FEATURED ASSOCIATE
FIRST FEATURED: 03/28/06
ASSOCIATE SINCE: 2001
FOUNDER: General Ceel
URL: p089.ezboard.com/bthegungancouncil
FOUNDED IN: January 2000
MAIN INTERESTS: Star Wars, roleplaying, general chat
The Gungan Council was originally founded as a community for Star Wars discussion and roleplaying. However, founder General Ceel had bigger things in mind. "It has always been my intention to have a wide variety of discussion," says Ceel. Indeed, The Gungan Council boasts one of the largest member counts and activity levels on the entire ezboard network. The success of The Gungan Council is in its diverse discussions. Each forum operates as its own lively community within the larger universe of The Gungan Council board, covering any topic that might be on your mind. "Film and Music discussions are highly popular, especially underground styles of music," says Ceel, describing the current climate on TGC. "Other discussions range from politics and current events to more generally topics about everyday life."
Film is one of the personal favorite topics among TGC members, and for General Ceel himself. Besides Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Narnia are popular films of discussion on The Gungan Council. General Ceel encourages members in a DVD slump to get off their duffs and check out the latest theatrical releases with the weekly Boxoffice Game. The continued growth of The Gungan Council and the loyalty of its members is thanks to the enterprising vision of General Ceel, himself. He's a role model for message board webmasters, and is generous in sharing his philosophy: "The only way to run a very successful community is by covering a wide scope of topics so that members always have something to do. Too much focus on one area leads to boredom. Even fans of a topic cannot think about that topic 24/7 without eventually becoming burnt out."
Ceel's vision and philosophy have more than paid off. The Gungan Council regulars come from all corners of the globe, with sizable contingents from the US, UK and Australia. Member ages range from teenagers to middle age, but the largest group is late teens and early twenties. The Gungan Council, most of all, is a lively and welcoming community, steered by the wise leadership of its founder: "We do not discourage any type of conversation. TGC represents a free and open society. We do demand that members be able to back up their opinions if they expect to be respected."

I prefer upbeat endings providing they're the logical conclusion of the story's arc, not a 'deux ex machina' or equivalent , eg a 'with a leap, he was free'...

It depends how fgar into a story I am; the further in, the less I will be inclined to work on something else. If I am headed for the final climax, I won't want to work on or start anything else until I am done.

Character Development, on the page or off?

It varies with how centrally the character's role is to the story. For important characters, I usually start out with a general concept of the type of person the character is. Sort of like archetypes; not in the sense of role... read more

Hi Vio,
You were always good at coming up with great questions.
In reference to Queen's "con" (or is it Qota for short?) the writing really shouldn't have anything that doesn't forward the story line. (And before you... read more
