PostStory Cross-Pollination

Does it help your writing to work on more than one story at a time, or is it better when you finish each before starting a new one?

I prefer to finish one before starting a new one. However, I do make notes on other stories while I work on the main one.

In some instances, when an idea is strong enough, I have set aside one WIP to work on another.

How strong does one story idea have to be in order to get you to put aside one for the other?

PostGotta write to be rid...

Sometimes, I'll wake with a yell and grab for the notebook. If the tale was vivid enough, the only way I'll be rid of it is to write it. Then I can get back to WIPs...

I think the idea of working on two stories at once sounds like a great, but having the time and energy to put into both rarely works out in practice.

I have to fnish one before I start another
On the other hand I tend to have eight or nine projects going at once. Creatively thats not such a deal now, with my artwork and blogging.

Ok to actually explain that clearly. At the moment running blogs etc on reviews and comments as well as artwork I don't have the same need to keep as busy creatively. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that I simply have enough work going on.

Normally I like one main project with two side projects at all times. That way I don't get too bogged down and loose rhtyhmn or flow in one. When I find the writing loosing its creative flow I just switch over to a different project. My problem and challenge is therefore focusing myself to complete projects and not let them drag on too long

It depends how fgar into a story I am; the further in, the less I will be inclined to work on something else. If I am headed for the final climax, I won't want to work on or start anything else until I am done.

Mainly I guess I have a number of things going until one really bites, and then I ride that one through to the end.
