FEATURED ASSOCIATE
FIRST FEATURED: 08/01/06
ASSOCIATE SINCE: 2005
FOUNDER: Blue Green Gem
URL: p087.ezboard.com/bfantasygathering
FOUNDED IN: January 1999
MAIN INTERESTS: RPG, Fantasy, Science Fiction
The Fantasy Gathering was orignally created by administrator Blue Green Gem as a place for RPG-ers to find greater freedom, or as long-time member Tobias Timepiece words it, "a haven for freeform fantasy roleplaying, which is both merciful and dangerous at times." Indeed, Blue Green Gem elaborates on the thinking behind its creation: "I created Fantasy Gathering because I wanted to let people play what they wanted to play. It's pretty much left to the players on what they want to do and not have to worry about stepping on anyone's toes."
While some members complain that the free format brings a lot of "one line" players, member reaction to the RPG experience at Fantasy Gathering is more positive than anything: "I haven't been a member on this board very long but I do enjoy it here," says member Lolita Devil, "My cousin, who plays on here also, told me about it and we both enjoy spending time here. It is a fun place to just come and write and see how things go." Kaleidoscope moose remarks, "I've RP'd on a lot of boards, and this is one of the better ones. It's well modded, and people post well."
In addition to the RPG forums, Fantasy Gathering offers a venue for out-of-character discussions on a variety of topics including science fiction, fantasy, and other topics of interest. The variety of discussions are numerous, limited only by the careful consideration of the moderators. Tobias Timepiece describes his moderating method, "As one of the moderators, I allow most any discussion as long as it is: 1) in good taste, 2) it doesn't become a flame war." Thanks to its freeform RPG style and active moderation, Fantasy Gathering is a lively place for gaming and discussion.

I prefer upbeat endings providing they're the logical conclusion of the story's arc, not a 'deux ex machina' or equivalent , eg a 'with a leap, he was free'...

It depends how fgar into a story I am; the further in, the less I will be inclined to work on something else. If I am headed for the final climax, I won't want to work on or start anything else until I am done.

It varies with how centrally the character's role is to the story. For important characters, I usually start out with a general concept of the type of person the character is. Sort of like archetypes; not in the sense of role... read more

Hi Vio,
You were always good at coming up with great questions.
In reference to Queen's "con" (or is it Qota for short?) the writing really shouldn't have anything that doesn't forward the story line. (And before you... read more
