I've not read it myself, but I just ordered it from the library. I read one Vonnegut SF story in college and I've been anxious to read more. When I found this one of the Amazon SF Bestsellers list, I thought I'd give it a try. _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane

I've read practically everything Vonnegut has ever had published in book form. In my opinion you will like Slaughterhouse Five, and if you would like other recommendations afterwards just give the word.

Even though none of his novels could really be considered mainstream, most are not of the speculative nature either, or of the alternate reality type as you like to term it. Of those that are, however, I would go with either Cat's Cradle or The Sirens of Titan. Both are SF, but mainly they are social satires. Of his more conventional stories, I would recommend God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, Breakfast of Champions and Mother Night, and the collection Welcome to the Monkey House, which includes a variety of story types.
