What's your genre of choice?

Whats your genre of choice for writing or reading? Do you like to stick to one genre, or mix elements from many? If you're a writer, do your reading choices reflect what you write? _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane

Horror is my favourite genre.
The beauty of horror is that it envelops just about every other genre Sci-fi, Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Thrillers, so-called Literary Fiction. It allows for absolute freedom. It is the most all-inclusive genre of all! |

I write fantasy.
I read pretty much everything else, but enjoy fantasy, detective, and thrillers the most.. |

I'm a fan of "series" fiction, where you can follow the adventures of a character through several books and it often doesn't matter what the genre is to me as long as I like the character. |

For reading, I'd have to say that I lean heavily toward what might be termed 'hard' science fiction/ speculative fiction for the most part. That said, I read all sorts of S&SF, as well as so called traditional and classic literature (just started Joyce's The Dubliners), the odd mystery, and spent one summer reading nothing but Louis L'amour westerns.....

I prefer science fiction of all types, hard, soft, sociological. I do read some fantasy, and what I prefer in that genre I would classify as contemporary, urban fantasy, like Neil Gaiman's American Gods, although I also like Tolkien, and the latest book I read was another fantasy from Gene Wolfe, The Wizard. |

Haven't read it yet, but I do have it. American Gods is the only Gaiman I have read so far. |
