Do you like your current occupation?

Is this what you want to do as a profession or just a stepping stone to something else? |

Loaded question, there, Saundra!
I'm currently a grad student. I like it but I can't do it forever. I'm trying to get a literary career going, but I first have to figure out how to package a 520 page manuscript for postal conveyance. _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane

I don't have a job. The hours are outstanding, the work is easy, but the pay sucks.

I'm a cytotechnologist. I do enjoy it but I'm not sure I want to do it forever. I'm thinking I'd like to go back to school (if they'd take me back). I haven't decided what else I'd like to pursue but, lately, I've been leaning towards biomedical ethics. |

Am nearly at the end of my career days. I have been working as an export clerk for the last 25 years dealing with countries all over the world. The work can be fun especially as I like to try out my knowledge of foreign languages. I have made a lot of friends over the years from all countries. As the political situation changes in the world, there is always something new. At the beginning contacts were mainly with European countries, the States, Australasia and Asia. Then the East European countries & the Russian States started doing trade and another interesting area began to develop.
There is the serious side to the work naturally. How to I get the goods to where they have to go, airfreight, seafreight or just truck. How do the customers pay. Far exotic countries usually with Letters of Credit or Inkasso. That can get complicated, but it is very interesting. Luckily I have always been open for new systems (further education, computer knowledge etc.) which is necessary to keep up with things today. Looking back, I think I am satisfied with the job I have had. On the other hand in 4 1/2 years I will be retired and I am not sad about that. _________________ Swiss Cat Loving East London Cockney

home schooling 4 children of 4 different grade levels is interesting. For the most part, I like it, but I do have my days when I think -yikes! I'm 45 and my youngest is in kindergarten! |

Is there any reason in particular that you're home-schooling your children? I'm just curious (Coming from a family where my mom's a speech and language pathologist, my brother's about to graduate with a degree in English education and I myself will get into English education). _________________ "It ain't all buttons and charts little Albatross.
