Hi everyone. As you've probably noticed, I haven't been around ARWZ much lately. It's my last term in grad school, and my schedule has been hellish. I've barely had enough time to do basic updates on ARWZ to fulfill our regular publishing schedule.
My schedule is a big problem, but part of the problem is that our review queue has nearly dried up. It used to be that I had at least 20 or 30 Vio/SK reviews lined up for publication, along with a handful of others from various contributors. Well, the last year has been a tough one for me with a variety of personal crises putting demands on my schedule, and I've had to land on that 30 review cushion a good number of times. Now, the well is dry, and most inconveniently it comes at a point in my life when I don't have the time to read as many new books, or spend a few hours a week hammering out new reviews.
So I come to you folks for help!
We need SUBMISSIONS! Desperately. Not fiction, not poetry, but articles. Reviews, reading list columns, interviews, editorials, etc. But most of all.
REVIEWS, REVIEWS, REVIEWS!!!!!
If you want to write a review on ARWZ for anything, PLEASE let me know. Reviews are what we publish most often, and so we need them most. Review books, movies, TV, video games, anything SF&F related. If you're interested, please, PM, email or even just respond to this topic. For examples of what we want to see in reviews, look here:
Again, a pretty easy little article. Got an opinion about something happening in SF&F today? Trends? Problems? Issues? Write about it, send it to me.
Please remember, I'm not looking for first draft brilliance. You can send me something that is of no higher literary quality than you might post on a board or a blog. I'll edit the piece. That's what editors are for. Also, we do take reprints, so if you've published stuff on other zines nonexclusively, we're happy to publish it here too.
Please let me know. We're in dire straits. Any help you can provide is much needed and appreciated.
ok, I climbed into my armour and rode off on my charger to do my bit to slay the deadline dragon...Armour was rusted shut in the darnest places...
Sent it to editors @arwz.com
Regards,
