On November 15th I'm going to do a purge of the memberlist. Any username with zero (0) posts will be deleted. Unless I recognize your username (e.g. some old ARWZ-ers have an account but don't post, some regular lurkers have spoken with me over email), it will be gone on November 15th.
So, if you're a regular lurker (and we most certainly welcome regular lurkers!) please give us a quick reply to this topic. It will take your post count up to one (1) and let us know you're out there.
Before you call me a heartless webmaster, please understand that we have terrible trouble with spammers here on the new boards. When we were on ezboard, we had the luxury of being part of a huge network of boards, where shameless spammers would get globally banned after a few postings.
And I'm not talking "come visit my board" type of spammers, I'm talking about "porn, stocks and perscription drugs" type of spammers. You know, the type that you handily delete in a single bound from your email Inbox?
Well, what's been happening here on the new forums, is that these type of spammers register for an account for one or both of two reasons. 1) They want the link to their website on our memberlist and/or 2) They wait awhile after registering and then come back and post ads on the forums where they haven't gotten deleted.
I've gotten pretty good at fingering spammers among newly registered accounts. In fact, I delete a spammer account from the board an average of once a day, some days more. Most of them just want to leave their web addresses in forum profiles all over the internet. But in effort to combat the sneaky spammers, the ones who register for a username and then come back later, I'm going to have to do account purges every so often.
So, please, if you're a regular ARWZ visitor, let us know. We're happy to have you reading the forums, even if you choose not to post. But if you have a zero post count, please let us know you're not a spammer. Reply to this message and say hello.
