Do you tend to gravitate toward authors of a particular nationality or cultural background? Do you find you read mainly American authors? British? Australian? Canadian? Authors from other countries in translation? Or are the backgrounds of the authors you like a fairly even mix? _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane

I suppose I read more English speaking authors (whether they be American, Canadian, British or Australian) simply because I don't hear or read about many foreign authors. In the past I have read Stanislaw Lem, Kobo Abe, the Strugatskys, Karel Capek, Jules Verne of course, but either the rest of the world is not producing quality SF/F authors or they aren't being promoted sufficiently.
Well, of course we are all bound to read more of authors who speak our own languages. It's harder to come across others who write in different languages simply because the middle man of translator is necessary. A book has to prove that it's popular enough to be worth the effort and expense of translation. _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane
