I've found that some people seem to have trouble with numer 5 - copyright does not protect ideas, facts, or titles. Some of these can be protected by trademark (Harry Potter is a trademark), which is a bit different than copyright. However, how this portion of copyright law is interpreted can be much more complex than such a simple statement, with hundreds of other factors coming into play.
Of course, best rule of thumb - if you didn't create it, you shouldn't use it. _________________ "I'm going to do what the warriors of old did. I'm going to recite poetry!"
I understand why titles aren't copyrighted. Think of all the song titles that are exactly the same for different songs. Even sometimes book titles. It would be absurd if you had to think up a different title just because some obscure book, film, story, or song had the same one. _________________ Violet "Violanthe" Kane
