Actually, I just started on my refinements this week. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post a blog in the next week or so about my initial experience with the refinements.

Thanks for this. Had mine for just a week and I've been faithful so far wearing them 22 hours at least. I guess you're done now. How are the retainers performing?

My ortho was a lot more generous with the trays (he gave me 80) and my treatment is to last 2 years. And yes! It hurts a lot when you switch trays and I grind my teeth too. It hurts the most when I take them off and forget to put them on for a few hours.

This blog has been awesome and honest. Thanks for putting the words down, many other clear braces reviewers forget to insert explanations and stick to complaining about the result (bad breath, pain, etc.)

To blanche almonds simply prepare a pan of lightly salted boiling water and a bowl of ice cold water. Drop the almonds in the pan and boil for approx. 1 minute. Drain the almonds and drop them straight into the bowl of ice cold water. The skins should slide straight off!

I don't think anyone, man or woman, is on Chestnut's -- and Kobayashi's -- level. But Thomas is well within striking distance of second place, right along Bertoletti, Janus, Stonie, etc. Her dog count this year would have put her in second place in 2010 and third place in 2011. Women's divisions make sense when there is a real, physiological difference between men and women (on average) -- the best female football players are smaller and weaker than the best male football players, to an order of magnitude that would makes mixed-gender competition both uninteresting to fans and dangerous to female players. And Title IX, as it relates to sports, requires equal appropriations for women's teams where it's impossible for women and men to play together. But no such essential difference exists in competitive eating. Whereas I do believe that women deserve affirmative action in fields that have traditionally been closed to them, this isn't affirmative action -- it's the opposite. Sonya Thomas proves that women and men can eat together. Segregating her just demeans her accomplishments and discourages female eaters from trying to compete at elite levels. After all, it's well known that harder competition helps individuals elevate their game.
