The original pilot episode was edited from an approximate length of 75 minutes down to about 40-41, and then they didn't even air that one first. It was "Storm Front," which was adapted from the first of the novels, and I believe it was the eighth episode shown. Others were run out of order as well, which may explain some of the confusion in regards to Harry and Murphy's relationship. The dvd set retains the jumbled broadcast order for some reason.

Producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe also reported that there were several memos from the network requesting that the stories rely more on the detective aspect rather than the supernatural.

In spite of all of that, I still enjoyed the show and bought the dvd set, and recently began rewatching it since there has been little of interest being broadcast so far this summer. https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=13436#13436 ecgordon Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:20 pm https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=13436#13436 Girl in Landscape by Jonathan Lethem, Review by Violet Kane https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=13249#13249
Author: Violanthe

Posted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:56 am

Lethem tells a peculiar coming-of-age tell against a hybrid science fiction and frontier background. Blog on ARWZ! https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12571#12571
Author: Violanthe

Posted: Sat Apr 12, 2008 1:01 pm

I'm excited to announce a new feature here at ARWZ that's been in development for quite some time.

Ever since last summer we've been working toward the integration of the ARWZ forums with a blogging system. We first attempted to integrate blogs into the forum by assigning post-restricted forums to users, but it was clear that these were just another way to post on ARWZ, and clearly no substitute for having your own blog under your own control.

Well, now we have them! ARWZ is a fully functional blogging community. And better yet the blogs are at once separate from and integrated with the forums. So while your blog is on its own page, with its own design, colors and feel just like on a livejournal or wordpressyour entries are also highlighted here on the forums, and users here can check your blog at the same time they check the forums. For more information read our blogs info page:

https://www.arwz.com/zineblogs.php

Check out my first attempt at an ARWZ blog for just one example:

https://www.arwz.com/arwz/weblog.php?w=1

I'm hoping all you folks will consider starting a blog here on ARWZ. Use it to write about SFF books and movies, keep a journal of your writing process or anything, really, that strikes your fancy. You can get started by clicking here:

https://www.arwz.com/arwz/weblog_config.php

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. If you run into any trouble with the blogs or wonder about features we could add, just let me know! https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12571#12571 Violanthe Sat Apr 12, 2008 1:01 pm https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12571#12571 NEW: ARWZ on Film! https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12570#12570
Author: Violanthe

Posted: Sat Apr 12, 2008 1:00 pm

Everyone has a book club it seems... including ARWZ! But what about the other side of SFF? There's a world of movies and TV out there just waiting to introduce us to new feats of SFF imagination.

And so, we are pleased to introduce our newest feature on ARWZ...

ARWZ on Film!

It works just like a book club, only instead of getting cozy with a book by the fireplace, we'll be settling in with a bowl of popcorn to bask in the glow of the silver screen.

The first step is to collect your nominations. What SFF on film have you been dying to see? From the classics to cutting edge, tell us what you're interested to watch. Nominations should be for SFF feature-length movies, or miniseries or single seasons of TV shows on DVD. All items should be fairly easily available for rental at stores or Netflix.

After collecting all the nominations, we'll vote on what we want to watch. Then, you'll have a month to watch and discuss the chosen film with your compatriots in SFF here on ARWZ.

So let the nominations begin! Tell us what you want to watch for our very first edition of ARWZ on Film! https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12570#12570 Violanthe Sat Apr 12, 2008 1:00 pm https://www.arwz.com/arwz/viewtopic.php?p=12570#12570
